Oat grass varieties for turfgrass:selecion and developement
This is the oldest Landlab R&D activity, begun in 1991, and it has been surely the first research action on this topic taking place in Italy. Turf researches and trials developed then with a partnership with a worldwide leader of the sector: Royal Barenbrug Group.
Landlab has nowadays several trials for about 4000 plots dedicated both to coolseason species (Lolium perenne, Poa pratensis, Festuca arundinacea, Festuca ovina), and warmseason species (Cynodon dactylon, Zoysia japonica), grown in separate plots or in overseeded plots.
On its fields Landlab breeds grass species, in order to find out genotypes most adaptive to the sub-continental climatic region.
They are carried on with low impact nutritional and irrigation techniques. The results are discussed with other breeders and crossed with data coming from other researches.
Moreover, Landlab studies turfgrass physiology and the reaction of species and varieties to different stresses, such as drought, wear, lack of nutrients and so on.These studies lead Landland to elabotate, in partnership with Haifa, a complete line of products for the turfgrass nutrition.
