Because of the reduction of healthy lands and ecosystems, it is becoming more and more necessary to operate in order to reverse this kind of process. The restoration of the environment seems to be the only solution for the existing damages. The concept of restoration consists on the one hand in reducing pollution and human impact and on the other hand in restoring the prior structural and functional ecosystemic balances in water streams, forests, urban areas, harbors or bays.
Some Examples:
Alonte (Vicenza): environmental restoration of a limestone
Riva del Garda (Trento): restoring of a 8600-square meters area on Lake Garda's shores in the area of the municipality of Riva del Garda. This includes the insert of turf areas of 250-1000 square meters, alternated with shingle. These areas are subjected to an intensive use mostly during springtime and summer, due to bathers and sunbathers. The turf is composed by Bermuda grass (Cynodon dactylon), a particularly damage resistant species, with a late introduction of microtherm species.
Cogollo del Cengio (Vicenza):environmental analysis of the Astico river and drafting of a fluvial public park near the village of Bojadori. This project takes form from the idea that this kind of environment needs to be safeguarded: indeed many species of trees, shrubs and weeds live in this area, creating together a mixed ecosystem, subdividing itself in micro-areas. This project's aim is to restore and upgrade the whole surrounding area, composed by forests, agricultural grounds, water streams and historical and architectural sites, such as the small Sant'Agata church. It will also provide sporting facilities and recreational areas connected to water and to the open field fruition. In order to design the project of the fluvial park Bojadori we have at first studied the environmental aspects related to the whole area, in terms of fauna and flora. This has permitted to better describe the environment considered. We then identified functions, intervention and management methods, in partnership with the main professional planner and the municipality involved.
